Ola fam,
Today I'm here with some great movie recommendations.
Some movies entertain us, but a few become a little part of who we are. They make us fall in love, laugh out loud, cry over fictional people, and replay songs long after the credits roll.
Here are seven of my all-time favourites ...movies I keep coming back to for their beautiful stories, unforgettable music, and the kind of romance that makes you believe in love all over again.
1. Anegan ❤️
Genre: Romance, Drama, Fantasy
Language: Tamil
A beautiful, soul-stirring story about a love that travels across lifetimes, refusing to give up even when fate keeps pulling two people apart. What I love most is the desperation of the protagonists to find their way back to each other, no matter how many lives it takes. The concept of love transcending time, the emotional intensity, and the wonderful background music make this movie truly special. And that ending? It leaves you with a sense of peace, as though the universe has finally put everything right. A movie that makes you believe some connections are simply meant to be.
2. Anna Bond 💃
Genre: Action, Comedy, Romance
Language: Kannada
A full-on Appu entertainer that I can happily rewatch any number of times and still have just as much fun! Anna Bond is the perfect combination of light-hearted romance, action, comedy, and pure feel-good entertainment. Puneeth Rajkumar brings his signature charm, making the movie an absolute delight from start to finish. Priyamani and Nidhi Subbaiah are equally good. And the songs? Absolute bangers that make you want to get up and dance. Sometimes, all you need is a fun movie, a few catchy songs, and some good old-fashioned maja!
3. Magadheera ❤️
Genre: Action, Romance, Fantasy
Language: Telugu
In my opinion, one of SS Rajamouli's best movies, Magadheera is everything I love about grand, larger-than-life storytelling. The breathtaking visuals, gripping narrative, and beautiful chemistry between the leads make this a truly unforgettable cinematic experience. The concept of janam janam ka pyaar - a love that survives death and finds its way back across lifetimes...is simply magical. And don't even get me started on “Dheera Dheera”; that song gives me butterflies every single time. A spectacular blend of action, destiny, and timeless love.
4. Googly ✨
Genre: Romantic Comedy, Drama
Language: Kannada
One of the best Yash movies, in my opinion, Googly has everything you could ask for in a romantic entertainer. The unexpected twists, hilarious comedy, charming romance, and a climax that makes the entire journey worth it keep you hooked throughout. Yash's screen presence and the chemistry between the leads make the movie even more enjoyable. And, of course, the songs are absolutely awesome! Honestly, I wish we got to see more Yash movies with this kind of romantic charm and feel-good energy. A proper entertainer that delivers full paisa vasool.
5. Sillunu Oru Kaadhal 🌿❤️
Genre: Romance, Drama
Language: Tamil
One of my all-time favourite Suriya–Jyothika movies, this one starts beautifully, takes you through unexpected twists, and delivers a climax that is the ultimate green flag. Honestly, I can never decide whose character I admire more: Suriya for his loyalty, Jyothika for being such a loving and selfless wife, or Bhoomika for her understanding and maturity. All three are green forests in a world that often settles for green flags! The emotional depth of their relationships makes the story so much more meaningful than a typical love triangle. And let's be honest, “Munbe Vaa” is probably the reason many of us press play in the first place.. and stay for everything else.
6. OK Kanmani 💚
Genre: Romance, Romantic Comedy, Drama
Language: Tamil
Although this movie was remade in Hindi as OK Jaanu, the chemistry and originality that Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen bring to the original are simply unbeatable. Every scene, every conversation, and every song makes you crave that kind of effortless, beautiful love. What makes the film especially interesting is how it explores the protagonists' evolving ideas about marriage, commitment, and what it truly means to build a life with someone. There is one particular emotional turning point that makes you rethink their entire journey and might just leave you in tears. One of Mani Ratnam's finest romantic dramas, with music and moments that stay with you long after the movie ends.
7. Alaipayuthey 🥹❤️
Genre: Romance, Drama
Language: Tamil
If I remember correctly, Alaipayuthey was the first Mani Ratnam movie I watched, and it remains one of my favourites to this day. Madhavan's performance is top-notch, and his chemistry with Shalini makes the romance feel so natural, intimate, and real. The slow-burn love story, the emotional tension, the little moments, and the challenges that follow marriage are what make this film so special. And AR Rahman's music? Absolutely magical it elevates every emotion and makes the whole experience unforgettable. The Hindi remake, Saathiya, also had a good cast, and Vivek did justice to his role, so did Rani...but I the OG Maddy–Shalini version is simply mesmerizing and touching.
Some movies give us butterflies, some make us cry, and some remind us why we believe in love in the first place. These seven have given me a little bit of everything and I wouldn't have it any other way. ❤️
Until next time,
Sarvamshreekrishnarpanamasthu
